Azure Over AZ – Grand Convention 2015

The Nashville ADPi Alumnae Association was proud to have Sister President Megan represent us at the Grand Convention 2015. She travelled to Arizona to attend workshops, awards banquets, ritual and a few fun activities thrown in. Be watching for our newsletter in August where we will have more information about Sister Megan and Grand Convention! We did want to take a minute to brag on how well we did…the hard work of the 2014-15 Exec Board, Committee Chairs, and Sister President (ex officio) MaryDe did not go unnoticed!! Zeta Rho (Vanderbilt University) and our alumnae association received the highest honor – The Collumnae Partnership award. The NashvilleADPiAlums also won the Diamond 4 point ribbon with excellence and the Pi Pride ribbon for our association’s commitment to increasing membership, demonstrating leadership in our community, support of RMH, programming, and strong sisterhood. Here are a few photos from Megan’s trip. [spoiler – there were lots of Nashville sisters at convention!]

Betty Brock is Honored by the Tennessee Society of Association Executives

photoThe Tennessee Society of Association Executives (TNSAE) announced the winners of its annual Awards of Excellence during a luncheon on July 19. Betty Brock was the recipient of the Association Executive of the Year, which recognizes a lifetime contribution to the profession of association management, through achievement with the individual’s own association, as well as service to TNSAE and other professional, civic and community organizations. Below are more details about this Nashville ADPi Alumnae Association member.  Violets to Sister Betty!

Winchester-native, Betty Brock, Tennessee Fuel & Convenience Store Association, was named Association Executive of the Year. The Association Executive of the Year is the highest recognition given by the Tennessee Society of Association Executives. Respected leaders of their own associations, recipients are women and men who contribute their time and expertise to other voluntary membership organizations and play an active role in civic and community affairs. They exemplify the very best in association management, continually bringing credit to the profession and to the entire association community.

Betty Brock, this year’s TNSAE Association Executive of the Year is a most appropriate selection in this year of the organization’s 50th Anniversary, as she has been an integral part of TNSAE’s life, having served as the first part-time and first full-time executive director of the Tennessee Society of Association Executives.

At TNSAE, Betty instituted many of the TNSAE programs we still enjoy today, including the Tradeshow and awards of excellence program. She successfully passed the CAE exam and mentored countless CAE candidates. When she left the association in 2003, she left it in a strong financial position, having increased association reserves by 90% during her tenure.

In the years since, Betty has continued to be involved in TNSAE, serving on the awards committee, as Tradeshow Committee co-chair and this year as chair of the 50th Anniversary Committee.

As a 33 year association management veteran, Betty has worked for several other associations, including the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association, the Southeastern Equipment Dealers Association, the Alpaca Owners and Breeders Association and for the past four years, the Tennessee Fuel and Convenience Store Association.

Betty has volunteered for many organizations, including the Ronald McDonald House, OUR Kids, Nashville Young Leaders Council and the Nashville Human Association, and is a member of the Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, which has recognized her for her service.

Congratulations, Betty Brock!
